Your safety is our top priority

The health and safety of our guests, employees, and fellow island residents is our top priority.

All Mission Point Resort employees are required to receive COVID-19 vaccinations, unless reasonable accommodation is approved. Please read our vaccine policy below for details.

MPR covid-19 Vaccine Policy

During the 2021 season and continuing in 2022, our team has taken a variety of steps to ensure industry leading safety measures are implemented across the resort. The Mission Point CARES Cleanliness Plan is a transparent compilation of all protocols in place to assure healthy and safety this season for employees and for guests. Our plan was developed based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), state and local health officials and with the guidance from industry leaders including the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association and the U.S. Travel Association.
Most recently, Mission Point has received our Global Biorisk Advisory Council STAR Facility Accreditation - a global cleanliness certification for expansive protocols on cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention. We also have completed the COVID-19 Workplace Safety Ambassador Program from MIOSHA.
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed at key guest and employee entrances and contact areas. All employees will be given their own personal bottle of hand sanitizer, which can be refilled upon request by Security.

Every week, our Security Manager, Jimmy Hagenbaugh, shares safety reminders, tips and tricks to ensure we are staying safe and compliant. All of these topics are in line with guidelines from MIOSHA, LMAS, CDC and of course our own Mission Point safety policies.

How to find the best face mask for your protection?

Two important ways to make sure your mask works the best it can
1.      Make sure your mask fits snugly against your face. Gaps can let air with respiratory droplets leak in and out around the edges of the mask
2.      Pick a mask with layers to keep your respiratory droplets in and others out. A mask with layers will stop more respiratory droplets from getting inside your mask or escaping from your mask if you are sick.
Choose a mask with a Nose Wire
  • A nose wire is a metal strip along the top of the mask
  • Nose wires prevent air from leaking out of the top of the mask.
  • Bend the nose wire over your nose to fit close to your face.
Use a Mask Fitter or Brace
  • Use a mask fitter or brace over a disposable mask or a cloth mask to prevent air from leaking around the edges of the mask.
Check that it Fits Snugly over your nose, mouth, and chin
  • Check for gaps by cupping your hands around the outside edges of the mask.
  • Make sure no air is flowing from the area near your eyes or from the sides of the mask.
  • If the mask has a good fit, you will feel warm air come through the front of the mask and may be able to see the mask material move in and out with each breath.
Add Layers of material here are 2 ways to layer
  • Use a cloth mask that has multiple layers of fabric.
  • Wear one disposable mask underneath a cloth mask.
  • The second mask should push the edges of the inner mask against your face.

Knot and Tuck ear loops of a 3-ply mask
  • Knot the ear loops of a 3-ply face mask where they join the edge of the mask
  • Fold and tuck the unneeded material under the edges.
Do Not:
Combine two disposable masks
  • Disposable masks are not designed to fit tightly and wearing more than one will not improve fit.
Combine a KN95 mask with any other mask.
  • Only use one KN95 mask at a time.

You are not alone.
Here at Mission Point, Safety is one of our top priorities but that doesn't just involve physical safety that also includes mental safety. We never know what anyone else may be going through.

Self Care.

Taking care of your own mental health is crucial. By taking care of yourself first, you can offer the best support possible to those around you while living a happier and healthier life.

Self-care refers to activities and practices that you can engage in on a regular basis to reduce stress and maintain your short- and long-term health and wellbeing. Having a robust self-care foundation can help you adapt to changes, build strong relationships, and recover from any setbacks life may throw your way.

There are 8 goals to keep in mind when developing your self-care plan:
1.      Taking care of physical and psychological health.
2.      Managing and reducing stress.
3.      Recognizing emotional and spiritual needs.
4.      Fostering and sustaining relationships.
5.      Achieving balance in different areas of life.
6.      Eat a healthy meal
7.      Engage in exercise
8.      Drink water
Creating your plan around these goals will give you a more holistic approach to supporting your mental health and ensures that you are covered in all areas of your wellbeing. People will differ in which areas they want to emphasize but finding a balance that works for you is important.
