  • About Mackinac Island
  • History
As a seasonal property on Mackinac Island, Mission Point Resort is home to hundreds of seasonal workers each year. Our season typically runs from April to early November; for the 2022 season, we will be open for the public from Friday, April 29th to Sunday, October 23rd. Most of our employees will arrive beginning to mid-April and stay through the early to mid November. Living and working on Mackinac Island is an exciting experience - one that you create yourself and will remember forever!

As a member of the Mission Point team, there are many benefits and activities for employees!

Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided in our on-site Employee Dining Room (EDR) for the whole season. There are fruits and snacks available in the EDR when meals are not being served. Meals are typically consist of 1-2 proteins, 2-3 sides, a salad bar, fresh fruit, soda machine, coffee, tea and juice.
Discounts at Mission Point restaurants/shops and Friends & Family room rates. Mission Point employees can enjoy 15% off at all MPR restaurants: Bistro on the Greens, Round Island Kitchen, Chianti, Boxwood and Strait up Coffeeshop & Cafes as well as at our gift shops. Employees can also get friends & family rates for select dates during the 2022 season for family members and friends to come visit.
International cuisine celebrations in the EDR. On several occasions throughout the season, we love to celebrate the diverse international heritages of our employees with meals featuring a country or region's cuisine. Examples of this include Jamaican Independence Day, South African Independence Day, etc. Let HR know if you have a heritage you'd like to celebrate! We also celebrate fun food holidays like National Pizza Day, National Ice Cream Day, and more!
Christmas in July party. While we're not able to celebrate together in December, Santa makes a special visit to us in July for the holidays with classic Christmas fixings, holiday décor, activities and gifts.
Associate of the Month. Each month, managers nominate an outstanding employee to be recognized at a special lunch where the Associate of the Month is announced and awarded a prize.
Employee movie nights. Every week during the season, movies are shown in the MPR Theater with movie snacks like popcorn, candy and soda.
CARES Cards Program. Outstanding work ethic that exemplifies our Mission Point CARES culture is recognized by a CARES Card - given out by managers and supervisors for guest service that's above and beyond. Turn your cards into HR to be entered into a weekly drawing for a chance to win a prize.
Crafting and crocheting event. Held bi-weekly for all employees that are creative and want to learn a new skill. Bring your own, or choose yarn or something from the provided supplies and start a project. All events will be guided and instructed to complete a project.
Annual employee talent show. This event is held at the end of each season and is a fun way to see fellow employees' hidden talents! All family-friendly talents are welcome and encouraged.
Annual employee photo contest. This is an opportunity to showcase the amazing photos you take while exploring the island, spending time with friends or just relaxing in your favorite places.
Lilac Parade participation: During the annual Mackinac Island Lilac Festival in June, many properties on the island enter a float in the Lilac Parade! All employees are encouraged to participate in building the float and be in the parade. Pictured above is the 2019 Lilac Festival Parade where we showcased our custom-made rental bikes - that year we also won the Spirit of the Lilac Festival award!
Closing Party. On the final night of the season, after our last guests have checked out, everyone's hard work is celebrated at Round Island Bar & Grill with a closing party!

Employee Handbook

Picture

Working at Mission Point is a both challenging and rewarding experience. Exceeding the expectations of our guests is a top priority and it would not be possible if we did not have a solid framework of policies and procedures in place. All our policies and practices are listed and explained in our employee handbook. It is important that you become familiar with this document as you will be expected to adhere to it once you arrive. You will be provided a copy of this document upon your arrival.

Employee Housing

All employee housing is located on Mission Point property and is split between two buildings: the Quorum and the Lower Level. Both areas are dormitory-style rooms with community bathrooms/showers. Single and couples rooms are limited - married couples and supervisors are given priority in these assignments.

It's important to keep in mind that our housing is designed to encourage employees to communicate, share cultures and experience what summer on Mackinac Island is all about.

Please keep in mind that our housing is very modest, however the company offers this living accommodation as an additional benefit to help defer the cost and inconvenience of obtaining housing off Mission Point property. Quiet hours are from 10:00pm to 10:00am and we ask that you please be courteous and respectful to your roommates and neighbors.

There are also two designated smoking areas on property: outside the west end of the Quorum housing and outside our Recycling area by the Wind Tunnel.

Bed linens, pillows, a light blanket, twin-size bed, lamp, small dresser, vending machines and microwave in the common areas, and coin operated laundry facilities are provided with your accommodations.
